Shore Cycle & Marine is welcoming the public to its new location at 7940 Highway 3 in Mahone Bay today with an open house. The doors will be thrown open at 10:00 AM, and until 4:00 PM visitors can enjoy BBQ, visit vendor kiosks and enter to win prizes. Food bank donations will also be accepted.
Shore Cycle was a motorsports company started in 1978 by Wayne Eisnor. It was focused primarily on Yamaha and Suzuki motorcycles, side-by-sides and ATVs, and parts and apparel from a number of suppliers. In 2010 the business was bought by Justin Wiens, and in 2018 the company branched out into marine lines. Boats sold, business took off and Shore Cycle & Marine soon outgrew its location. In 2018 planning began for a new place.
The new, much larger site for Shore Cycle & Marine will allow the business to continue as a longstanding South Shore supplier of powersports vehicles and boats, parts and service. Passionate about the community they are a part of, only local contractors were hired to build Shore Cycle & Marine's new site.
"[We sell] boat brands like Coastal Vokey out of Newfoundland," says Operations Manager Kevin Boon, "Bennington, Fabtech, G3 and more recently White River Marine Group where we now carry a range of new boats from Tracker, Ranger, Nitro, Mako, Tahoe, Sun Tracker and others."
The new showroom, at more than 20,000 square feet, is lined with rows of motorcycles, fishing boats, pontoon boats, ski-doos, side-by-sides, ATVs and more recreational power vehicles. Inflatable dinghies cover one wall, another is lined with helmets, and shiny Yamaha, Suzuki and Mercury outboard motors can be seen too. There is also a large parts and service section.
Shore Cycle & Marine can be seen from Highway 103 near Exit 10, an array of speedboats, fishing boats, larger powerboats and much more lining a large lot with the main building facing Highway 3.
Exploring the giant new showroom, with gleaming vehicles everywhere, one word is heard again and again through the store from visitors and potential new customers: "Wow."
