Pacific West Refrigeration

Pacific West Refrigeration (PacWest) is a Canadian‐owned and operated manufacturer of marine refrigeration systems for commercial fishing vessels operating in Atlantic Canada and beyond. We design and build Refrigerated Seawater (RSW) systems and freezer plate systems used in lobster, crab, scallop, and other commercial fisheries common to Nova Scotia.

An RSW system replaces ice by circulating chilled seawater through onboard tanks or holds. This provides even, controlled cooling, eliminates the cost, labour, and lost capacity of hauling ice, and reduces handling damage to the catch. In live shellfish applications, especially crab, cold, stable seawater keeps animals calm, reduces stress, and has proven capable of significantly lowering onboard mortality and overall waste.

All PacWest systems are fully assembled and run tested in our shop prior to shipment, then delivered installation‐ready for new builds and refits. We work directly with boatbuilders and shipyards to ensure practical layouts, reliable performance, and long service life in real fishing conditions.
