A.F. Theriault & Son Ltd. is one of the largest privately owned boatyards in Canada’s Atlantic Region. The company was founded in 1938. To date, it has proudly built over 900 vessels. State of the art fishing boats, workboats, pilot boats, patrol vessels, yachts, fireboats, barges, passenger ferries,  and aquaculture processing boats are built or repaired by combining old techniques with the latest trends and technologies. Indoor production facilities for vessels up to 150′ in length demonstrate, through outstanding quality, performance and reliability, a personal dedication to clients and pride in workmanship.

A strong emphasis is placed on the construction quality, safety and stability of all boats in accordance with Transport Canada, US Coast Guard and American Boat and Yacht Council as well as to class requirements such as Lloyd’s Register, DNV GL and American Bureau of Shipping.

ABCO Industries Inc., located on the waterfront of the historic shipbuilding and UNESCO World Heritage designated town of Lunenburg, specializes in the manufacture of welded aluminium boats to 65′ (20m).

ABCO has numerous standard designs which can be customized and as well can provide custom designs or work with your design.

ABCO builds for marine industries including environmental response and research, aquaculture / fishing, regulatory, patrol, security, search and rescue, pilotage and other commercial applications.

ABCO facilities include over 26,000 square feet of inside manufacturing space with modern welding, forming, and fabricating equipment. Welding is certified and all operations fall under a documented Quality Assurance Program to ISO 9001:2015.

Pond Boat Shop has been building wood epoxy composite and fibreglass composite boats for over 30 years. They are custom builders to owner’s requirements of sail boats and rowing boats, power runabouts, pocket power cruisers and power sedan cruisers. Composite construction creates light, strong and easily driven vessels. The shop does new construction, refits and repairs, provides design consultation, design adaptation, mechanical and electrical installations and rigging. Suppliers of Dudley Dix kits and assembly of kits. Big Pond has Certified Boat Builder, and Certified Marine Service Technician on staff.

Chéticamp is an Acadian fishing town situated beside the fertile fishing grounds of the Northumberland Strait and the Gulf of St. Lawrence on the beautiful Cabot trail. Chéticamp Boatbuilders have been providing fine, durable vessels for the East Coast fishing industry for over 25 years.
Over the years, their operation has expanded to include welding and mechanical shops and a marine supply store. They build, repair and service longliners, lobster boats, crab boats and fish draggers. They converted a 60’ fishing boat into a luxury cruiser and performed a major refit on the 56’ Eastern Star.

Since 1979 Covey Island Boatworks has been building award-winning custom sail and motor yachts for the world. In fact, their yard has turned nearly 100 unique dreams into low-maintenance realities and sound investments.  They build their boats for sailors, passage-makers, and adventurers.  Boats with character, designed for everything from family living and cruising to modern racers and classic yachts.  Every Covey Island boat reflects the extensive knowledge acquired from over 39 years of combining traditional Nova Scotia craftsmanship with trusted, cutting-edge technologies.

In 2016 they opened a new yard in Liverpool, Nova Scotia, where they are building and finishing commercial fishing boats and other larger pleasure boats. In addition to new builds, they provide full refit-restoration services, spar building, rigging, repairs and Awlgrip refinishing. If you are interested in electric or hybrid propulsion, Covey Island Boatworks are distributors for both Torqeedo, Bellmarine, and LMC, leaders in marine electric & hybrid propulsion. In 2017 Covey Island also took on the Beta Marine line of diesel motors and generators for Atlantic Canada. This year Covey Island is introducing the CIB 30 HE, a Downeast boat or Lobster Yacht with hybrid propulsion. David MacDonald’s boat shop overlooks the Northumberland Strait and Prince Edward Island, and is located halfway between Antigonish and New Glasgow on Route 245. The Northumberland Strait is home to the type of fishing boat known as the Northumberland style. David has been a boat builder for the past 33 years and now specializes in boat finishing and repairs. Top quality workmanship and products are their past and future goals.

Long Beach Boat Building Ltd. was established in 2000 and builds durable and reliable commercial and pleasure boats up to 45’.
Mark brings 18 years of boatbuilding experience to the company. All boat parts are solid moulded fibreglass and each vessel is custom finished to meet the owner’s requirements. The company has developed a 32’ hull that is available in both commercial and pleasure versions.

Also known as Rock Solid Composites Ltd, they are located in Cornwallis, NS. They are privately owned company established by owner and President Barry O’Neil, who brings 40+ years in composites and combined boatbuilding experience to the company.

The business employs skilled workers that can produce a vessel to your specifications. Rock Solid facilities include over 30,000 square ft of inside manufacturing space. They can accommodate 2 x 50’ vessels inside and 2 vessels outside where they offer custom boat building, modifications, repairs and maintenance to fiberglass boats, including lengthening and widening hulls. All boats are designed and built to appropriate codes and standards and Transport Canada requirements.

Herman Samson and Daryl David have been building boats in their shop in Pondville, Isle Madame since 1986. Isle Madame is an island off the South Coast of Cape Breton Island that has serviced fishing ports since the Europeans first started fishing off North America. 

The company takes pride in the rugged seaworthy craft that they produce from their high-quality moulds. The boats are sold as kits at any stage of completion or as finished products. Samson Enterprises produce serious inshore fishing boats of various sizes and moulds. 

Samson produces three main models, the Samson line, the Magna and the North Shore line, along with its Cape Island style hulls. 

Samson's has 3 locations to service all customers. A repair facility with a 150-ton travel lift on the watr in Petit de Grat, a finish shop in Pondville and a moulding plant in Lennox Passage, Industrial Park.

In business since 1944, Snyder’s Shipyard are capable of building and restoring vessels from 22’ - 110’ in wood and fibreglass. Most recently they have built and completed several 39’4” to 50’ fibreglass lobster boats. The yard recently renovated two shops to accommodate refits to widen and lengthen smaller vessels.
Snyder’s have a fully operational 200 tonne marine slipway to haul vessels up to 65’. The photo shows the most recent Sea Gypsy which measures
49’ x 25’.

Tern Boatworks is located in Chester Basin, Nova Scotia and specializes in new construction, restoration and repair of traditional wooden and composite boats. Tern Boatworks offers a variety of services including: custom fibreglass work and repair, electrical and mechanical systems, spar building and rigging, paint and varnish, and custom interior design and construction. They can also complete seasonal maintenance services and manufacture bronze and aluminum boat hardware. Their facilities are available for custom pattern making, casting, machining and polishing. At Tern Boatworks, a high level of craftsmanship is of the utmost importance. Their shop is on-site at Gold River Marina and they can arrange hauling, storage and launching of the boats under their care.
