Overview
The Yard Manager is hands on working role responsible overseeing the operations of the boat
repair facility along with the owner. The Yard Manager works alongside the Owner to oversee
daily operations of the boat repair facility, managing a team of 5–8 employees. This role requires
continuous visibility on work in progress, ensuring tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and
to a high standard. This is a working leadership role — not a desk-based management position.
The successful candidate will spend the majority of their time in the yard, on their feet,
engaging directly with employees, equipment, and ongoing jobs.
Duties & Responsibilities
Operations & Team Management
• Plan and assign daily work for employees along with the owner
• Ensure staff understand priorities and job expectations
• Keep work on schedule and maintain productivity
• Address performance issues and keep the team on track
Scheduling & Coordination:
• Coordinate daily yard activities and workflow
• Work with subcontractors to ensure jobs are completed on time
Safety & Quality:
• Ensure all work is completed safely
• Enforce safety procedures at all times
• Monitor work quality and correct issues as needed
Problem Solving:
• Handle day-to-day issues related to employees, equipment, or workflow along with
owner
Materials & Equipment:
• Ensure materials are available for upcoming jobs
• Coordinate ordering when needed
• Keep equipment and tools in good working condition
Administrative:
• Ensure timesheets are completed and accurate
• Review and submit timesheets to the Owner
• Provide updates on job progress and any delays
Customer & Contractor Interaction:
• Communicate with customers on-site when needed
• Coordinate subcontractors working in the yard
• Ensure all outside workers follow yard rules
Authority:
• Direct daily work and manage employees
• Make decisions to keep jobs moving
• Order routine materials within agreed limits
Skills & Qualifications
• Experience in marine, construction, or industrial work
• Strong leadership and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple jobs at once
• Good problem-solving ability
• Experience with heavy equipment is an asset
Working Conditions
• Monday – Friday
• 8am – 4:30pm
