Overview

We are seeking a motivated Mechanical Labourer to join our team in a fast-paced boat building and repair environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

Your duties will be diverse and dynamic, including but not limited to;
• Equipment installation: Installing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components into new builds.
• Mechanical and System Fit outs: Working on pumps, rigging, pipework, pipe fitting, rudders, and shaft assemblies.
• Vessel Maintenance: Removing and installing propellors, grinding, painting, carpentry, and fiberglass work as required.
• Inspections: Assisting with CSI (Canada Shipping Act) inspections and quality

Skills & Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
• Skills: Mechanically inclined with good organization skills, basic numeracy, and effective communication.
• Experience: Previous shipyard or marine experience is a plus but not required (comprehensive training provided).
• Flexibility: Willingness to work overtime and weekends when necessary to meet critical project deadlines.
• Gear: You must provide your own CSA-approved steel-toed safety boots.

Working Conditions

In this role, your primary focus will be installing essential mechanical and hydraulic equipment and components into brand new vessels. While most new construction happens indoors, you may also be required to assist with hands-on maintenance, repair, and refit work that takes place both inside and outside on the shipyard.

The environment can be noisy, dusty, or have odors typical of a shipyard. Work involves heights at times. This is a physically demanding role. You must be comfortable standing for extended periods, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and working in tight spaces inside hulls

Compensation

$20.00-$30.00/hour

Competitive Base Wage: Commensurate with your experience level.
Attendance Bonus: An extra $2.50 per hour bonus added for every week you complete your full 40 hours.
Overtime Pay: Paid at a premium rate for any hours worked beyond 40 in a week.
Health Benefits: Comprehensive Group Medical Insurance Plan (including Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and Extended Health Care) available after 6 months of employment.
Paid Time Off: A fully paid holiday shutdown between Christmas and New Year’s.
Personal Days: Three personal days per year
