If you share our values and would like to work with a uniquely specialized organization, ABCO is presently seeking a Food Scientist to join our growing team.

Duties & Responsibilities

-Reporting to the Vice President of Sales, the Food Scientist will be responsible for facilitating the progression of food machinery research through to successful development and approval.

-They will collaborate with a project team to complete research & development duties, on time and on schedule.

-They will support the development and modification of new and existing technologies and products.

-They will create and validate processes for lab and plant trials while allowing for process improvements and product launches.

-They will work closely with various departments to source ingredients & suppliers as well as to establish project guidelines such as rework, micro-testing, and reduction.

-They will lead lab and production scale trials by preparing specifications & guidelines for testing.

-They will document lab results and plant trail runs accurately while capturing critical trial parameters.

-They will report any food safety and or quality issues to their Manager.

-They will monitor the marketplace to identify and evaluate potential areas of innovation, trends, and competing products.

Skills & Qualifications

-As the ideal candidate, you will have a Bachelor of Science in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology or another related field.

-The successful candidate will have 2 + years of research & development experience in the food industry or other biology-related fields.

-The successful candidate will be self-motivated with a high degree of initiative. They will have the ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines.

-They will be organized and ensure the accuracy of the completed product.

-Our candidate will be experienced in managing documentation as well as sensitive, confidential information.

-They will have sound technical and problem-solving skills and be proficient in Microsoft Suite.

-Flexibility to travel occasionally is required.

-In-depth knowledge of Canadian, US, and international food safety regulations, as well as other related compliance programs, is considered an asset.

-Preference will be given to candidates fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
