Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified Intermediate Engineer in compressible flows and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to join our experienced Explosion and Fluid Dynamics Team in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Duties & Responsibilities

- Work with a team of high-performing engineers delivering innovative solutions to a range of client challenges, particularly in the areas of public safety, industry, and defense
- Provide consultancy services in areas relating to explosive blast, reactive flows, compressible-flow computational fluid dynamics, and structural response to blast through the application of new models and modification of existing codes
- Develop and maintain internal software using agreed-upon code standards and associated processes
- Contribute to, and prepare, technical reports and scientific publications
- Build relationships with internal and external clients, be hands-on in assessing complex problems, and help build the business
- Participate in proposal development and provide estimates for own time

Skills & Qualifications

What you bring

- Have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, or Aerospace)
- Demonstrated research/consultancy skills in fluid dynamics (compressible flows), thermodynamics, and chemistry; experience in explosion/shock/blast physics, or a related area, of particular interest
- Demonstrated experience in the development/application of CFD models
- Be eligible for Personal Security Clearance with the Canadian Industrial Security Directorate

Considered an asset

- Demonstrated experience in the analysis of structural response to highly dynamic loadings, and experience in using FEA tools such as LS-DYNA
- Experience in machine learning (ML) algorithms and application of ML models.
- Experience in the marine industry and ship hydrodynamics
- Experience in computer programming / CFD code development
- Working knowledge of Linux OS and experience in parallel/scientific computing
- Experience working in a consulting environment
