Workers’ Compensation Board Workshop

A two-part session on Workers’ Compensation in Nova Scotia.

Part 1: Assessment rates.  Review the rate-setting model, paying particular attention to the Boat Building industry.  The representatives from Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) will help you understand how your 2011 rate was set, and look into the claim and cost trends which are leading to the rates that you pay.  Discuss the connection between claim costs and rates.

Part 2: Prevention and return-to-work strategies to keep claim costs under control. The representatives will take you through some of the trends the WCB is seeing and things that are being done to manage claims and work with employers to keep their workplaces safe.

Come away with a better understanding of the factors that drive the WCB assessment rates, and some of the strategies you can use to manage safety and return to work, to lower claim costs, and keep your rates down.
