Growing Your Business Workshop
The Growing Your Business workshop aims at providing small to medium sized businesses with the tools and information to grow their business through their employees. Employees are the backbone and the face of every small business, so it is very important to ensure that each of your employees are working to help grow your business. Participants will learn how to find the right employee for the position and their company, how to keep employees motivated, and how to provide opportunities for your employees to grow with your business.
This interactive workshop will feature:
- Action oriented training on human resources practices for small to medium sized businesses, showing you how to build your company through your employees and how to retain the best people.
- How to ensure that you and your employees are setting goals to ensure that each individual employee and the company are continuously growing.
Each participant of the program will receive a free copy of two SMUBDC publications, The Human Resources Guide (useful for keeping up-to-date with Labour Code Standards) and How to Grow a Business: Lessons from Leading Entrepreneurs. Lunch will be provided and there will be no charge for attendance.
Business owners and administrative personned are especially encouraged to take part. This is a great chance to get information on ways to attract and retain employees, and manage the costs of hiring. Plan the trip to Halifax and learn some new ideas for keeping your employees motivated during your upcoming projects and hiring the right employee for your business. About the instructor:
Manager, Skills Development & Training, Saint Mary’s University Business Development Centre (SMUBDC), Michael has over 12 years of experience in entrepreneurship, economic development and professional training. He has extensive leadership and project management experience in his role at the SMUBDC. He has been responsible for the development and delivery of varied projects including the multi-year employability training programs for recent graduates, conference planning and coordination, a variety of research and consulting projects, and professional development training. In addition he has gained significant entrepreneurial experience through ownership of several businesses, the most recent being a retail video store. Michael’s educational training consists of a Masters of Business Administration from Saint Mary’s University and a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from Dalhousie University.
